Abstract

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has been reported to be effective for reducing pain and emotional symptoms. However, the effectiveness of MBCT on patients with migraine has not been examined in Korea. In this study, patients with migraine participated on a brief version of group MBCT program. A total of 5 female patients with migraine completed 5 to 7 sessions of MBCT classes over 2 months. Most participants reported lower headache frequency (4 patients), less use of medication (4 patients), lower scores in depression and anxiety (5 patients) in the post-sessions compared to the pre-sessions. MBCT is likely to help reduce frequency of headache or medication uses and alleviating emotional burdens of patients with migraine.
